Sexual Sin

Are you a Christian who takes pleasure in sexual sin?

Sexual immorality is everywhere… and unfortunately it’s also in the church. Within what calls itself Christianity there are multitudes who have given themselves over to all sorts of deviations, including fornication (sleeping together before marriage), pornography, masturbation, women who are loose with their clothing and other sexual issues. Professing Christians now see no problem with dressing in revealing and provocative clothing, exposing parts of their bodies which are designed by God to be seen only by their spouse. They now call it “legalism” to come against the spirit of lust that has overtaken so many churches.

Men who prophesy and shout “Amen!” on Sunday morning turn to pornography Monday evening. They often say things such as, “This is it! I’m done with this sin!” yet a week or a few months later, they return to their sin as a dog returns to it’s vomit. They have no self control and willingly give themselves over to the most vile sexual immorality. They talk much of Christ and continue to fellowship and seek to cause others to see them as “Men of God” when their private lives are full of wickedness.

Shacking up – or living together before marriage – is now something tolerated by the church. Those who shack up are rarely confronted and often treated as though they were living pure. It’s now a “no no” to confront a professing brother or sister who lives with their boyfriend or girlfriend. Churches and leaders have now, in the name of “grace” and “mercy”, accepted fornicators as “Born Again and Spirit Filled”. Oh how far we’ve strayed from the Word of God!

Homosexuality, while shunned by Believers in their personal lives, is no longer a topic they want to confront and speak out against as they fear they don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings nor offend anyone. The abomination of homosexuality is now a topic that multitudes of professing Christians are easy and soft on, rarely giving the issue a mention anylonger, unless it’s to appease homosexuals so as not to “offend them”. In fact, some who claim Christ engage in homosexual behaviour themselves. The modern mindset is to “keep silent” on homosexuality. What a tragedy!

Yes, we must have mercy and show much grace; however, there is also a time when we must show – in the Love of Christ – that these kinds of behaviours are evidence of an unregenerate heart. Those who give the right hand of fellowship to those who indulge in sex sins are partakers with the sexually immoral. The Scripture is clear:

“Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, 10 or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)

God is clear: Those who live a lifestyle of sexual immorality will not inherit His Kingdom. Such people will neither walk in His Grace to overcome and nor will they be received into Glory when they physically die but rather such people will be cast into the eternal Lake of Fire:

“Blessed are those who wash their robes. They will be permitted to enter through the gates of the city and eat the fruit from the tree of life. 15 Outside the city are the dogs—the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idol worshipers, and all who love to live a lie.” (Revelation 22:14-15)

What a day it will be when men stand to give an account to God for their secret lives of immorality! Those who stood and prophesied, healed the sick, cast out demons, fed the poor, visited prisoners and made others believe that they were “sold out and on fire” while in their private lives engaged in sexual sin will not escape the fierce wrath of God.

Excuses like “I just can’t help it” and “I want to be free but don’t know how!” will not cut it on that day, friend. If you’re a sexually immoral individual who claims the Name of Jesus and yet walk in a consistent practice of sexual immorality you’re going to be thrown into the eternal Lake of Fire; there’s no escape from that place once there!

Jesus Christ died for our freedom from sin. Not only did He come to forgive us but He also came to take away the very power of sin that held us captive. The veil of the Temple was torn in half; there are no longer any excuses for living a lifestyle of sexual sin. If you do not receive this truth now, you will one day receive the consequences of your sin:

“And I saw a great white throne and the one sitting on it. The earth and sky fled from his presence, but they found no place to hide. I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books. The sea gave up its dead, and death and the grave gave up their dead. And all were judged according to their deeds. Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death. And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:11-15)

Christ Jesus can at this very moment set you free from sin’s power over your life… but you must want it with all that you are! You must deny yourself and, take up your cross and follow Christ to the death of your fleshly desires:

“And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple.” (Luke 14:27)

If you’re walking in your own desires and are voluntarily breaking the commands of God while shouting “I’m under Grace!” … you’re not His disciple but are rather a counterfeit, a tare in the Garden of God who will one day be removed and bundled up to be cast into unquenchable fire.

Look to Christ today; allow His Holy Spirit to set you free once and for all; surrender your sexual desires into His Hand and invite Him to bring you into purity and holiness:

“So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.” (John 8:36)
