There are those among us today who, for one reason or another, do not believe that prophecy under the New Covenant can come with warnings and judgements. They hold that because we’re in a New Covenant, the Old Covenant prophetic ministry with it’s calls to repent or face dire consequences is no longer applicable. Is this a New Covenant position? I submit that it is not. In fact, the New Covenant shows us the opposite.
Let’s look at a prophetic word given by Jesus Christ Himself through John the Apostle in Revelation 2:5 which was given to the New Covenant church in Ephesus:
“Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.” (Revelation 2:5)
Let us look at another New Covenant prophetic word:
“ Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.” (Revelation 2:16)
This is another example of New Covenant prophecy, calling New Covenant churches to repent… or face dire consequences.
The New Covenant doesn’t simply give “nice” prophetic words; we see the opposite.
